Wedding at the hare & Hounds
A Photographer's Love Affair with The Hare and Hounds in Tetbury
Hey everyone, I'm Stephen Baron from Stephen Baron Photography, and today I want to gush about one of my absolute favorite places to shoot weddings: The Hare and Hounds in Tetbury. I've had the pleasure of capturing a couple of weddings there, and let me tell you, the setup is top-notch. The service is some of the best I've ever seen, making everyone, including me, feel incredibly welcome.
The Setting
Nestled in beautiful gardens and woodland in Westonbirt, The Hare and Hounds offers a stunning backdrop for your big day. Their website promises "a setting to remember," and they definitely deliver. If you're a bride or groom looking for a venue with character and fantastic photo opportunities, this place should be on your list. I'm not just saying this to be nice—when something is this good, it's worth shouting about.
Brides Getting Ready
I've had the joy of working with brides in the charming Gatekeepers Cottage, located just beside the main building. This cozy spot has a Jacuzzi, kitchen, lounge area, and is perfect for natural bridal portraits and hair and makeup prep.
The Building
The Hare and Hounds itself is a beautiful 42-bedroom building with all the charm of an 1854 Cotswold inn. A photo in front of the building is a must for any bride and groom. They also excel at preparing rooms for your Cotswold wedding day, with décor that’s done to such a high standard. Brides have loved the setups for both the ceremony and the wedding breakfast.
The Gardens
From a photography perspective, it's like the original builders in 1854 had photographers in mind. The lush, well-maintained green lawns, hedgerows, and acres of space are perfect for big group shots and outdoor weddings. The backdrop of the building adds an extra element of charm. Photographers can easily capture those high-angle group shots without needing a step ladder. Plus, there are deckchairs, seating areas for drinks, and plenty of private spots for intimate bride and groom shots, even on the hottest days.
Final Thoughts
As a photographer, I thoroughly enjoy shooting at The Hare and Hounds. The staff make you feel like part of the day and are incredibly welcoming. One standout moment for me was during a wedding when a small shower of rain threatened to disrupt things. Without missing a beat, the staff appeared with umbrellas to ensure the bride made it to the ceremony on time, proving that rain couldn't stop the celebration.
If you're planning your wedding and want a venue that offers great service, stunning settings, and fantastic photo opportunities, The Hare and Hounds in Tetbury should be at the top of your list.
